Scanning Electron Microscopy
From May 30th - June 1st, I spent my time in a Workshop. Not just any workshop but a scanning eectron microscopy workshop. For three days I tinkered with a microscope that few people in this world get to use. I mean, I actually used it; not stand by while some instructor/professor gave a lecture on it. We zoomed in on things that seem so small and yet it was no where NEAR the magnitude of how much that baby could zoom. I mean, we only magnified to abut 7000 times, at most. The usual was less than a thousand but it was so clear!
The images we got were astounding on their own, but then we COLORED them and then we created true works of art! Using adobe we made pollen spores look like a bouquet of roses a stamen look like a rich wave, some algae look like exotic flowers and bugs look like masterpieces.
I can not even begin to express how truly great and amazing this experience was for me. To say that it reaffirmed my love for science is an understatement. I got to meet some great people with my same interests and get some awesome information. I hope this energy and interest lasts and I can manage to continue on with this education.
